A single Bowhead was harvested off Point Barrow on October 11, 2010, by the Anagi Crew. It was
relatively small at 23 feet 11 inches, and from the first cut at 5:20 PM to
when the last piece of meat was pulled away at 6:24 PM... only 1 hour and 24
minutes was required to process this whale!
Before the processing began about 50 minutes was available for pictures of
family and children, and for the North Slope Borough Department Wildlife Management's
biologists to measure the whale and give a few impromptu lessons on
whale biology to both visiting biologist and also to inquisitive children.
